Some pointing and signing

Even though she won't do it here, she really does know where her ears are.

When will it end?

I had to rush Mackenzie to the doctors last night as her right her had a bunch of blood in it. The nurse practitioner looked in her ear and mentioned that "that's quite a bit of blood." He looked in her left ear which was fine before we got there but the moment he took out the otoscope that one started pouring blood too. She has perforated both ear drums. I asked what on earth caused that. She wasn't acting like she was in any pain at all. He said probably an ear infection, AGAIN! We just finished antibiotics last week for her left ear that was infected. I am so unbelievable frustrated by all of the infections. So, we are giving her antibiotic ear drops, which she hates and we have to hold her down to give them to her. And we have to keep her on her side for about 30 seconds too for each ear. I feel so bad for her. I mean, she is obviously not in any pain but come on!!!! This makes 5 or 6 this year so far. I just want it to stop.

Forget Mama

Well in my last post I told you that little monkey here was actually calling me mama. Yeah, this is no more. Now I ask her who I am and she says with a big grin on her face "dada!" Along with this she does the sign for dada. Mama is feeling no love! Right this second she is telling dada "no no no!" She is a goof ball. Oh, also in my last post I questioned her future mothering abilities. I have more reasons to doubt, see below that she is eating her baby. Who is setting this example for her????? :)

Vegetable Woes

So most of you know that Mackenzie will not touch a vegetable, mostly green ones. Not even green beans. When she was eating jarred food she would eat carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, but nothing green. I think she tried some pureed broccoli once and liked it but then would never eat it. Oh she does like corn too. So when she stopped eating jarred stuff she started refusing ALL vegetables except corn. She won't touch vegetables. Her little "graduate" meals that have veggies on the side I've tried mixing with the chicken and gravy type stuff and she still won't eat them. She spits them out or actually just throws them on the floor before trying them. Hmmm I wonder where she gets that from. I have no clue how to get her to eat her veggies!!! I'm starting to go crazy! Well tonight things have changed a little bit. She now has her first set of molars so she can chew more easily. Matt gave her a spear of pickled asparagus tonight. PICKLED ASPARAGUS PEOPLE! She ate at least 4 of them and wanted more! SERIOUSLY! If only I knew where my camera was I could have gotten pictures of this.

Hmm what else is she doing these days? Well, she is doing more signing! She does signs for please and bird now! When we are outside I'll ask if she hears or sees the bird and she'll start doing the sign for bird. It's so cute. She doesn't do it perfectly but that is ok. In with the please sign and out with the more sign though. It used to be that she would do the more sign when she wanted more or if we asked if she wanted more. Then we taught her please and she did both more and please together once or twice. Now she just does please. We are working on that. She says MAMA now and knows that it's me. She also says "nigh nigh" when she is going to bed. Just this week when we ask her to she points to her eye and says "eye", nose "no", and also points to her ear and mouth but can't say them just yet. She is learning so much so fast! She is all recovered from the hand, foot, and mouth disease! We go back to the doctor on Monday for an ear check to make sure the infection is going away. She has had so many ear infections this year, I think like 4 or 5 just since January. We may need to have tubes put in. One thing I have noticed though is that she gets ear infections when she is teething. Right now, all 4 of her pointy (I think they are called the "eye" teeth or something) are trying to come in. You can see them right under the gums.

We have really been enjoying the summer weather. Mackenzie can not get enough of outside time. Oh yeah, that is another thing she is doing now. She will run up to the door and say "ow sigh" which translated means "outside." We filled up her little pool on Saturday and Matt got in there with her it was cute. She loves going on walks too. That is starting to turn into a weekend thing for the mornings.

A few pictures for your enjoyment...

Kenz and her new babydoll/stroller combo. I was wondering what kind of mom she will be as she puts the baby in upside down. Just terrible! :)

Ready for our walk to the park! She actually left the sunglasses on for a little bit.

We walked to the little park/beach by our house. Mackenzie loved walking in the sand, and running toward the water of course.

Watching a "bo" (boat in Kenz language) go by

Until next time!

Dance with the angels Marmee

What a legacy you have left Grandma! You created a truly amazing family. To just hug you one more time. Without you, we wouldn't have our family. We love you so very much Grandma. You will forever be in our hearts. Love, Matt & Eva

Marmee, I am so thankful that you came to meet me in the hospital when I was born. What an honor that was for me. Thank you for spending my first birthday with me too. I love you. I can't wait for Grammy and Daddy to tell me stories about you and show me your pictures.
Love, Mackenzie

Maemaw and Grandaddy's visit, 4th of July, and more

Well Mackenzie got to see her grandaddy(my dad) for the second time in a few months and this time maemaw (my mom) was with him! Mackenzie has been "talking" to maemaw on the phone a little bit and maemaw has a song she sings to her every time and maemaw sang it to her when they met and Mackenzie knew who she was! She went right to her. It was awesome!!!!! They were here for 2 days which included the 4th of July. We had such a nice time. My parents are just in love with Mackenzie and my dad won her heart by taking her outside. Mackenzie LOVES to be outside. We just hung around the house for the 4th, had some great coconut shrimp (good job Matt!), steak, and sweet potato fries. Papa (Matt's dad) came up too. We had also had some amazing margaritas that Matt's dad brought. The plan was to watch fireworks from Papa's deck but Mackenzie had other plans. She fell asleep before we left so we watched some through the trees while sitting on our porch. Mackenzie loved having her maemaw and grandaddy here and they couldn't get enough of her either. We dropped them back off on Saturday. Mackenzie started to come down with something that day too. As we left, I noticed she had some red spots in her mouth and on her feet. She didn't seem bothered by this at all. She was eating fine and acting like a normal 14 month old. That night she was up every hour crying. Then yesterday she developed some red spots on her face and around her mouth. The ones on her feet hadn't changed at all. She is also teething which means tons of DROOL. Her shirts are soaked in a matter of minutes. Yesterday she was quite fussy and not wanting to eat much. Again had a bad night and I had to camp out on the floor of her room since she was up so much. I think I got about 2 hours of solid sleep. She was also putting her finger in her left ear. She had more spots on her face today so I made a dr appointment and by the time we got there she had spots all over her legs and arms. Well she has hand, foot, and mouth disease and an infection in her left ear. Nothing can be done about the HFMD except let it run it's course and give tylenol for the pain of the sores. She keeps her mouth open as she has some red spots on her lips too so I think it hurts her to close her mouth. This also adding to the amount of drool. She has been started on an antibiotic for her ear and let's hope she gets some sleep tonight, and me too! Here are some pictures from my parents visit.
