The woes of diaper rash
It the most awful thing I have ever seen. When Mac got home from daycare I checked her diaper, didn't seem wet at all nor did she smell. So a little later I go to change her and I see the reddest most chapped little butt. She's gotten diaper rash before, but not to this extent. It is awful. When I would wipe her she would start this crazy weird breathing that scared the heck out of Matt and I. Poor baby girl! This morning it seems to be getting better, not as spread all over. Thank God for Bordeaux's Butt Paste!

4 month check up
Weight: 12lbs 4 oz- 20th percentile
Height: 23 3/4 inches- 75th percentile
So Mackenzie is a little under weight, just a little. Dr. Muller isn't tooooo concerned about it but she would like us to increase her formula intake to about 8 oz, if Mac will drink it all. It's not that we aren't giving her enough, Mac is a very active baby. When we make her a 5oz bottle, she does NOT drink it all. Dr. Muller would like her to have a little bit more fat on her for the winter. She would also like us to increase her rice cereal intake to 3 times a day rather than just once. Other than her weight, our little girl is doing fabulous. Another round of immunizations has been started also. Again, Mackenzie was a trooper with her DTaP vaccine today. We'll see how much Mac can put down in a feeding!

And we're on to day 2!
Matt and Mackenzie got home at 7pm last night. Dinner was on the table and we sat down at the table for our first family dinner with Mac in her highchair. On the menu, spaghetti for us and rice cereal for Mac. Usually Matt and I eat in front of the t.v which is not something we want to teach Mac to do. So, family dinners at the table from now on. She enjoyed daycare from what Matt said. Apparently she got a little fussy in the afternoon but the teacher said that is normal, especially for the first day. I got smiles when she got home and I missed her so much. But by 8pm she was tired and cranky. I felt bad as I didn't get to see her all day and now that she's home she wants to go to bed. I'm sure she just has to get used to this new schedule. Usually she isn't ready for bed until 9:30 or 10 but I think the new environment tired her out. I got extra cuddles this morning during her nighttime feeding (2am) and then again before she left this morning. It's still weird not having her around during the day. I know once school starts I won't have time to think about that. Matt enjoys the company in the car during the drive to and from.

Heartbroken
The house is too quiet. There are no giggles, babbles, or cries to be heard. Today is Mackenzie's first day at daycare and I am feeling a bit guilty for sending her there. I've been away from her before, but only for like 4 hours at the most. This is like 12 hours (an hour there and an hour back). She's only been gone for 25 minutes and I miss my little baby Mac already. Did I cry as I watched Matt drive off with her? Of course I did. I could have gone and dropped her off but like I said before, it takes an hour to get there. I probably wouldn't have let her go in! I am so excited for her to watch and interact with other babies but will the teachers take as good of care as I do? I know they are trained and certified and have lots of experience and I trust them, I really do! It's just hard letting go this early. It will be nice to have some "me" time before school starts in a couple weeks though. Here are some pictures of her before she left. I'll post an update to this entry tonight to let you know how she did.

Mac's first trip to the fair!
We went to the Evergreen State Fair on Saturday. Mackenzie may not have realized she was at a fair, nor does she know what one is but, she had a fabulous time. Daddy took her and showed her pigs, rabbits, horses, sheep, and cows. She just stared at them. I can't wait until we can take her to a petting farm and have her imitate the animal sounds. She fell asleep from all of the commotion. Mac was such a good little girl and barely fussed at all. She loves to look at what's going on around her. We just love taking her places. She is sooooooooo much fun.
