Yes she is finally here!

On April 30th, 2007 at 2 in the morning I started having some really good contractions that woke me up. I was supposed to have a doctors appointment at 7:50 that morning and was holding off on going to the hospital as I was sure we'd be sent there any way. By 7am Matt convinced me to go to the hospital. I knew something was up as I really wanted to do my hair but just couldn't. We checked in at 7:30am and were admitted by 8 or so after finding out I was 4cm. The contractions were about 4 min apart and weren't too painful. I was more tired than anything after only having slept for 2 hours. The doctor came over around 10am and found I was 6cm by that time. At about 12:30 I decided to get an epidural so I could sleep. The contractions were still manageable but I needed some rest before pushing. By about 4pm I was 8cm but things stalled. The baby wouldn't drop into the birth canal. I was put on some pitocin to see if that would make her drop. Unfortunately by 7:30, there had been no change and the contractions were getting smaller and less intense. So after an 18 hour labor I underwent a C-section. Matt was amazing the whole time, such an encourager to me. We were both scared to have this major surgery done but I knew from the moment I found out I was pregnant that a C-secion would be possible. The doc found that she tried to come out lop sided! She is the most beautiful baby we have ever seen. Matt is absolutely smitten with her, as any dad should be but it is so sweet to watch them together. As soon as I was out of recovery I held her for the first time and she latched on right then and is eating really well. I had to stay in bed a whole extra day as the epidural didn't want to leave my right leg and I was still numb. Matt was awesome though, always getting up to change her and help me nurse her. We are all still adjusting but are doing fantastic. C-section recovery is going really well too. My staples were removed (19 of them!) before being discharged from the hospital and I'm up and about, have been since we got home. It feels better to be up walking around and doing things. Here are her stats and some pictures.

1 week late!

Is this kid ever going to grace us with her presence? I thought for sure she'd be here by now! I hate playing the waiting game and I obviously have a problem being patient. I've been given lots of advice on how to get this show on the road and have tried all of it, NOTHING WORKS. I feel like I've been pregnant for 41 months, not 41 weeks. Let's get on with it child!

5 days passed due date and very frustrated

Yesterday we were in the birth center for a while being monitored. I was about 2.5 almost 3cm and after 2 hours there was no change so home we went. Contractions were about every 6 or 7 min and manageable. So today after quite a few hours of very intense contractions every 5 min along with major back pain we went to the birth center yet again. I was about 3.5cm when we got there so they monitored for about an hour and a half and then was checked again. No change so I got to go home empty handed again! WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is so flippin frustrating and I just wanted to cry when we left there. Is she ever going to come out? Why can't they just give me something to get things going more? It's so dumb, I feel dumb.

Me & my spalding

Hopefully this kid will come greet the world by this weekend. Although, I'm not holding my breath. I can't believe it's the end of the pregnancy. I sure am going to miss this big 'ol belly!

Here it is, week 39!

I can't believe how fast this pregnancy has gone by. With just under 2 weeks until this little macaroni is due, I don't think she'll be coming much before then. She's giving us mixed signals that's for sure. She's dropped just a little bit and she now LOVES to ram her head into my pelvis, yeah that feels great. I had a ton of energy on Saturday and now I am just worn out. Poor Matt!

First run to the hospital but no baby

Well I just got back from being monitored at the birth center.
At about 10 this morning I started feeling like I was going to start
af and was having a lot of lower back pressure. Then at between 11am-12pm
I was having contractions every 15minutes. This continued through
lunch and I thought maybe I should call my ob (who by the way I saw at
7:30 this morning!). I had asked her this morning about her process
for internal exams and she told me she doesn't find it necessary to do
so unless I wa feeling like I was in labor or if my water breaks. She
didn't want to put her patients through that uncomfortable process.
Fair enough. So at 1:00 I decided to call her and let her know what
was going on. She had me come right over, did an internal exam which
I DO NOT LIKE! She said my cervix was soft, still long, and something
about her fingertip. It was then that she sent me to the birth center
for monitoring. I was def having some pretty big contractions every
11-15 minutes. I got there and all hooked up by about 2pm and was
monitored until 4. Hubby got there just 30min later. He left work
when I told him what was going on, even though I knew I would be sent
home. The nurse had me leave a urine sample at about 3:30 and
immediately said it was way too concentrated and I was dehydrated
which was more likely the reason I was contracting. I downed some
water and the contractions started spacing out. She did check my
cervix which hadn't changed since my doc checked it. She said it was
extremely soft and I could go any time but they'd like me to wait at
least until the end of the week so I could be considered full term. I
just got home, I have my feet up and I keep having to pee from all the
water! I am generally really good about keeping hydrated but for some
reason today I wasn't very thirsty. No infections and group b strep
was negative. The nurse said she has a feeling they'd be seeing me
again real soon. I see my doc again on Monday, my last day of work is
Thursday. That was planned already though. I've been advised to stay
home tomorrow but we'll see. I work a block away from my doc office
and 2-3 blocks away from the hospital. I live 25 min away from both.
I guess I should finish packing my bag and put the car seat in the
car huh!
