Where do we go?

I know it's been a while and it seems as though I have abandoned my blog. I really haven't! I just feel like my blog is boring and I want it to be interesting to you guys. I started this to keep my family updated on all things pregnancy and then all things Mackenzie. I'm just not sure where it's going. I know I've mentioned this before but I'm getting a lot of spam comments even though I have the word verification set up. Do you think it would be a hassle to make this a "by invite only" blog? I will be updating more as we have been doing some super fun things this summer. I have some craft projects I've been working on too that I would love to share with you! What are your thoughts?

Here are some pictures from the 4th. The weather was overcast and cold. But, we still had a great time with our friends. Mackenzie actually enjoyed the fireworks this year. She got to wear some special ear protection to muffle out the sound. She looked silly but she had fun. Matt showed her how to blow a marshmallow out of a handmade marshmallow gun. And, she really enjoyed helping me make dump cake.

Tiny Dancer

We went to our favorite Cajun restaurant, Alligator Soul, about a month or so ago. They had live music playing and Mackenzie couldn't wait to shake her groove thing. She was cracking us up. She does this funny thing with her hands at the end of the video, I'm still trying to figure it out! People sitting near us were giggling at her too. I think we have a tiny dancer on our hands.

Random

Monday is back again. I tell you it comes too soon every week. It's the one day of the week when it seems to be extra hard to get out of bed. Last week we tried to make Sunday that new Saturday and had a last minute bbq with some friends. All I will say is that Sunday will not be taking the place of Saturday for a very long time. That particular Monday was awful. I will add that I loved seeing our friends and for that, it was worth it. We had such a great time.

I'm going to try a new weekly post. I'm not sure what the title will be but I would love to have you play along. I often have these random thoughts and usually keep them to myself. They usually start out with "I wonder what would happen if" or "I wonder what it would be like to.." I thought it would be fun if I asked the question and gave a subject and then let you answer with your thoughts. What do you think?

I grew up being told that I didn't have to go to college. I was 18 and got a great job as a government contractor. It was there that I met my husband. We met, were engaged 2 weeks later, and then married 5 months later. We then moved to the West Coast about a month after we were married. Hubby was NOT in the military, nor was I pregnant. We were just young and in love. He was an intern at the government agency I was contracted to and from the Northwest so he had to go back to school. Once we moved he said I had to go to college. Great.

I wonder what my life would be like today, 11 years later, had we not met. To be honest, I'm not sure. I would probably still be on the East Coast. Probably still doing government work. Not sure that I would have ever picked up on blogging, cooking, or scrapbooking. I wouldn't have my beautiful little girl. I know for sure that I wouldn't have gone to college. The only good thing would be I would still be near my family. I miss them so much. I was so mad when my hubby told me I had to go to college. I didn't want to. But....off I went. It was such a long road. The person I became because of going to college is a person that I never thought I could be. I'm so glad I met my husband. Would I do it all over again? That's a question for another day!

I'm not sure how to go about this. It may not be anything since I have to approve my comments but I just thought I'd throw this out there. I have been getting a TON of comments that appear to be Asian language mixed with some English. Then at the end is a link that is only symbols. I have never clicked on these, nor have I approved these comments.

My Mom

This is my mom and I. She and the rest of my family live on the opposite side of the country from me. I miss them so much. They may think they know how much but they really don't. I'm trying to get them all to move out to the West Coast with me. Hopefully someday...

In honor of Mother's Day I wanted to tell my mom how much I love her. She can be a little crazy but I think that's what makes her unique. She would do anything for her kids. Her love for her family is unbelievable. I love you mom. I wish I could be there to spend Mother's Day with you.

Birthday Pictures!

We had a pretty big party for Mackenzie's birthday. I think we ended up with about 14 kids plus their parents. We had a blast!

I decided to get my hands dirty and play with some fondant. I've never worked with it before but have always wanted to. Before I did this cake I did a practice run. After that I was hooked! Homemade fondant tastes so much better than the store bought stuff. It was so much fun to do. I made my own white fondant but bought the black and pink. I did try to color some of the homemade fondant black but it was too much of a mess. I never did get it fully black either. But I did figure out how to get a pretty cool purple! I love how the cake turned out and I can't wait to make another one! Thank you to my fondant savvy friends for all the tips and support! Here is the cake!

I also made the birthday banner. We had lots of zebra and pink! Some might think I went a little overboard but I don't think so!



Birthday girl! Yes, I found zebra striped leggings! I was not looking for them and just happened to see them at Babies R Us while shopping for other things. Of course I had to get them! Mackenzie's hair pretty was specially made for her by the owner of Bee Bops & Lollipops to go with our theme. I love it so much.


Mackenzie has been asking for a pink bike for a number of months now. She was so excited to see this! She got a matching helmet and knee pads too. She's already been on it a few times and does great.


This chica was spoiled by her friends. Thank you to everyone who came and made her day extra special. You mean more to us than you know. We love you!
